There is very little feature overlap in Tiki. There is some but in proportion to the overall project, there is very little and the community actively avoids duplication and will merge features when appropriate (with a data migration script to make sure no one is left behind). This is part of the Tiki model. However, as Tiki Suite is a suite of a dozen or so FLOSS components who are all self-sufficient apps, there will be overlap in Tiki Suite, notably between a desktop-app and a web app. For example, Thunderbird vs Roundcube vs Tiki webmail.

It will be up to the end user to decide which one to use.
